Local Garden Nonprofit Celebrates 60 Years in Monument Valley Park with a Garden Tour

El Paso County, CO – In celebration of the Organization’s 60th year, the Horticultural Art Society of Colorado Springs (HAS) invites the public to tour three public gardens maintained by the Society’s volunteers within Monument Valley Park.  

This event, free and open to the public, will take place Saturday, July 16, 2022, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., beginning at The Heritage Garden, 1117 Glen Ave. (near I-25 and Unitah). Activities will include: easy walking tours of the Heritage Garden, the Demonstration Garden (222 Mesa Rd.), and the Pinetum (across Fountain Creek from the Heritage Garden next to Colorado College); stories and history of the gardens; native plant information; kids’ activities with prizes; with Harpist Marta Taylor in the Heritage Garden and the Colorado Springs Saxophone Quartet in the Demonstration Garden; and refreshments.  

The HAS is a nonprofit organization providing community-based garden education and stewardship of public gardens in partnership with the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services. The organization currently plans and maintains the Demonstration Garden, the Heritage Garden, and the Pinetum in Monument Valley Park.
